Getting out of pain is obviously important, but its also crucial to know why! Are you trying to get out of a chair without pain, or do you have a marathon race approaching, and your knee pain is holding you back? Your goals will determine what the plan of action will be. Specific activities have specific strength, mobility, and durability goals.
An individual could be strong in all of their leg muscles, but still have knee pain. Someone could present with “terrible mechanics” but can tolerate running 25 miles per week! A soccer player, who plays 6 days per week, will need to have a significantly higher tolerance for joint loading than a professional body builder, whose muscle and tendon loading capacity will be higher.
