Who Are Shiraj Physio And Performance?

SPP was founded by Dr. Shiraj Chakraborty. After working in various Physical Therapy settings, he realized that traditional healthcare created many barriers and obstacles that put more emphasis on productivity, and took focus away from what actually mattered: getting clients out of pain, and helping them regain control of their body and minds to help them live the life they strive for, without limitations or restrictions. The goal is to get people back to the things they love.

How Shiraj Physio Redefines Physical Therapy

The evolution in physical therapy has changed the landscape of what rehab and recovery should look like.

At SPP, we have made it our mission to be a TRAILBLAZER in physical therapy, with the emphasis on promoting ANTIFRAGILITY, instead of Fear avoidant behavior.

The meaning behind antifragility is that our human systems are not fixed. They’re not capped. They’re not weak.

Our brain can convince our body that it’s weak, but when you realize that our bodies are dynamic systems that can change and grow constantly, we can learn that the RIGHT stress wont hurt us, but can actually improve us, enhance us and make us grow exponentially, without limitation.

That’s the foundation of Shiraj Physio and Performance.

Overcoming Fear and Building Confidence

Unfortunately, traditional PT has promoted AVOIDING activity, resulting in a society that is fearful of activity and movement. It is aligned with how our healthcare culture functions, and has sadly, through NO FAULT of their own, created a fragile and anxious population.

The reality is that when joints are loaded optimally, you will not only recover faster, but you can IMPROVE those structures beyond your current state. Here is the HARD truth: Injuries occur more because of what we have NOT done, as opposed to what we have done, Strained your back lifting a box? its not because lifting boxes is bad, its because you have not trained your legs, hips, and trunk to tolerate lifting.

Fitness Expert, Bret Contreras, provided one of my favourite quotes, which i think embodies our mission at SPP: ” If you think lifting is dangerous, Try being weak…. Being weak is truly dangerous.”

Teaching people to fear movements promotes weakness. at SPP, we train people to embrace movement, and welcome physical stress, knowing that with our guidance, they will be enhancing their bodies, and ability to tackle whatever the world throws at them.

Our brains have the ability to limit us and also to make us reach goals we can’t even imagine. If we understand that, and understand how to manipulate our brain and body systems, we can all truly THRIVE in this life.

ABOUT DR. CHAKRABORTY

DPT

Dr. Chakraborty is a certified Athletic Trainer, and Doctor of Physical Therapy. He is also a residency trained Sports Clinical Specialist, and has extensive training in Human Biomechanics. Dr. Chakraborty has spent his career mastering concepts related to optimizing care for athletes, active adults, and people who value the importance of movement, and how it relates to their quality of life.

Dr. Chakraborty also provides his services to various sports organizations, such as Network PT/ATC to the United States Soccer Federation (USMNT and Youth Teams), and High Performance Consultant for the nationally recognized Beach Futbol Club of Southern California.

Outside of his business, Dr. Chakraborty lives his passions through playing soccer, golfing, and spending time with his wife, Joayn, and two dogs, Cali and Brodie. He and Joayn plan on visiting every national park in the United States before they turn 40!
