The ACL Journey is a Long One

For an athlete returning to high level activity, the recovery from an ACL injury and surgery can be 9 months or longer. At Shiraj Physio, our physical therapists will provide you a detailed Roadmap to help you get back, better than ever. Force Plate Testing

During one of our ACL Return to sport education courses in Europe, the presenters used one of their professional soccer players as a subject. He was 7 months post surgery. He had been running without restrictions for 3 months, and had begun doing soccer specific work with his team. The instructors had us all try to assess Asymmetry and quality of movements, such as Countermovement Jump, Single Leg Jump, and Squats, only using our eyes. The course was attended by the top clinicians in their fields, representing every major professional sports organization from around the world. At the end, most of us found minimal, to no compensations whatsoever. This athlete had zeror pain, and was performing every movement and maximum intensity. He looked in great shape. However, when the instructor showed us the force plate data, we were able to see that he was showing 20% deficits and compensations for almost all movements. Our eyes simply could not pick this up.

Force plate testing plays a crucial role in determining when someone is ready to return to their sport or activity. It helps to take the guesswork, and human error out of the decision making process, and ensures that you can gauge progress, and determine readiness to return to what you love, with TOTAL confidence. Here at SPP, Force plate testing is performing consistently throughout the ACL rehab process, to make sure your progress is always tracked, using data and not opinion. This should be a MUST for any individual/athlete looking to make a comeback after their ACL injury.

3D Running Assessment

The human eye is able to detect movement at around 30-60 frames per second (fps). to detect compensations in running form, you need system that will function at around 3x that speed. our Running analysis system is able to function WELL ABOVE the desired detection recommendations, resulting in pin point accuracy when determining potential abnormalities that could be impacting your ability to run without pain.
Not only is our system the most accurate, but it is also extremely fast. a standard 2D analysis could take 45-75 mins to film 4 planes. our RunDNA system is able to capture in 6 PLANES of motion, all within 15-20 minutes, which means we have the ability to assess, and begin your treatment plan, all within the same session. 3D running analysis is crucial for the ACL progression process, but is a very useful tool for anyone who enjoys running. Whether you are you a competitive runner looking to improve your running efficiency and reduce your times, or a recreational athlete looking to make sure pain does not stop you from running, a 3D running analysis session is a MUST DO. Movement, Strength, and Performance Tests

Assessing strength should never be done by hand alone. Data driven strength assessments should be the norm in PT, but sadly, less than 20% of sports PT clinic calculate strength data accurately. Here at SPP, we implement strength data using VALD Technologies, and are able to not only determine Asymmetries, but are also able to track your status based on the norms for your age, sport, and injury progression timeline. We dont want you to simply be equal, we aim to get you BETTER than before.

Movement Performance Assessments are a MUST in any return to sport program. If your PT does not have a MPA criteria, then its time to find a new PT. Clearing an athlete after an ACL injury without performing a MPA is like sending a novice climber to scale El Capitan without any gear. The risks are simply to high.
